{"id":7758,"date":"2024-09-09T09:09:04","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T15:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/?p=7758"},"modified":"2025-07-04T07:49:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T13:49:47","slug":"renos-of-the-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/2024\/09\/09\/renos-of-the-mind\/","title":{"rendered":"Renos of the Mind&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Approximate Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p>So, I&#8217;ve been going through a LOT of emotional stuff in the last few years.<\/p>\n<p>Personal, relational, professional, you name it.<\/p>\n<p>Curious: I tend to write in a private journal when I&#8217;m going through stuff, and I write here only when I&#8217;m feeling strong, and sociable.<\/p>\n<p>I think maybe I want to try mixing the two a little more.<br \/>\nSo, here&#8217;s a start&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I recently realized that I&#8217;m Autistic.<br \/>\nIt has been deliciously freeing.<br \/>\nMore on that in future posts.<\/p>\n<p>For now I&#8217;ll say it has involved some super major shifts in my thinking.<\/p>\n<p>Emotional stuff and mental shifts use a lot of energy.<br \/>\nLike, a <strong><em>really <\/em><\/strong>lot.<\/p>\n<p>A huge amount of our energy goes to keeping our nervous system functioning (brain included, but not only) &#8211; just as a baseline.<\/p>\n<p>It takes extra energy to build new pathways, and no surprise &#8211; the best time to do that is when we aren&#8217;t doing something else. So it makes total sense that the body would want you you rest more when making changes.<\/p>\n<p>Renos usually go better when unimpeded.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps sleep is like putting tarps on things to be protected while other changes are being made. Rest is good too &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t always have to be sleep.
