{"id":1833,"date":"2012-08-23T10:50:19","date_gmt":"2012-08-23T16:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/?p=1833"},"modified":"2014-09-12T11:56:52","modified_gmt":"2014-09-12T17:56:52","slug":"ten-skills-every-student-should-learn-curriculum-eschoolnews-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/2012\/08\/23\/ten-skills-every-student-should-learn-curriculum-eschoolnews-com\/","title":{"rendered":"Ten skills every student should learn | Curriculum | eSchoolNews.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Approximate Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p>Another article that&#8217;s been sitting in my to-blog list for a while, but with school starting (or started) all over the globe, it&#8217;s worth noting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eschoolnews.com\/2011\/08\/11\/ten-skills-every-student-should-learn\/\">Ten skills every student should learn | Curriculum | eSchoolNews.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a good list:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Read<\/li>\n<li>Type<\/li>\n<li>Write<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively, and with respect.<\/li>\n<li>Question<\/li>\n<li>Be resourceful<\/li>\n<li>Be Accountable<\/li>\n<li>Know how to learn<\/li>\n<li>Think Critically<\/li>\n<li>Be Happy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Interestingly, four of them (5,6,8,and 9) require curiosity in order to be of any real value. One of the things I have come across far too many students is a real lack of curiosity. Sure, they ask questions, but if the answer doesn&#8217;t fall into their laps, they loose interest. Far too many students are unwilling to do the work needed to find out the answers to their questions.
