This is a non-technical survey course designed to introduce the student to computer systems, information processing concepts, including terminology and techniques, the application of computers to students' lives and work, and the impact of computers on society. Students should gain a conceptual understanding of basic principles and apply these in practical situations so as to become more effective users. Productivity applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management and presentation software are taught in computer labs.
