It&#8217;s always exciting and filled with new hope and opportunities. Fresh paper; new pencils and all that.<\/p>\n<p>When I was a student,I always looked forward to the start of the year, even that feeling didn&#8217;t last. As an academic, I still look forward to the start of the year &#8211; it&#8217;s my chance to learn (yup, even as an academic, I look forward to learning new things), to improve on things I&#8217;ve been doing and to share some of what I have learned. As I get older, I&#8217;ve found that what I share includes more about life and how to have a good one than it did when I was young. I include thoughts on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/2013\/05\/20\/chris-hadfield-an-astronauts-advice\/\">learning to BE and not just learning ABOUT<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/1986-06-007-adam4_wm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-5407\" src=\"http:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/1986-06-007-adam4_wm.jpg\" alt=\"1986-06-007-adam4_wm\" width=\"363\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"http:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/1986-06-007-adam4_wm.jpg 640w, http:\/\/minkhollow.ca\/beckerblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/1986-06-007-adam4_wm-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px\" \/><\/a>My youngest child (of three) moved into the residence at his school the other day.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a time to reflect on how proud I am of all my children.
