Except, the problem is that the game is simply being used as a wrapper around the same old industrialized learning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalplay.info\/blog\/2011\/03\/28\/gamify-your-classroom-with-chore-wars\/\">Gamify your classroom with Chore Wars | Digital Play<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis comment causes me deep concern:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The idea is to encourage the students to do more exam practice tests by making it fun.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Really? Is THAT what you think this is good for? Getting kids to do more tests?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mheducation.com\/prek-12\/explore\/sra-reading-labs.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mheducation.com\/prek-12\/explore\/sra-reading-labs\/_jcr_content\/par\/full_width_container_1\/par_col1\/two_column\/par_col1\/articleimage.img.jpg\/1469115267007.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly a lot of ideas embodied in gamification are not actually new: like choice, detailed progress tracking, earning scores based on performance, moving up to the next level, etc. (I remember using <a href=\"http:\/\/srareadinglabs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SRA Reading Kits<\/a> &#8211; I LOVED those things).<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, gamification does provide a handy lens through which to examine these ideas.
